Dear Residents

We here at the Village continue to monitor this evolving situation and continue to work with the various departments throughout the county. I now have teleconferences three times a week with other Mayors and City Managers from the county. Those teleconferences include hospital representatives from University Hospital and ACMC along with various representatives from the county prosecutor’s office, EMS, the County Health Department, Ashtabula City Health Department, the City of Conneaut Health Department and Ashtabula County Emergency Management (EMA), along with a representative from mental health. We meet to discuss issues that arise in our area and we work to together to help sort things out. The different departments give up dates to keep us informed as to what is going on.

Preventive measures are continuing to intensify. I realize some of these measures will create hardships, but please understand these decisions are made out of caution to slow the spread of the virus. We are adjusting some things in the Village to avoid adding to the stress you are already feeling such as going along with the Governor and extending the due date for taxes. We encourage everyone to get their taxes in as soon as possible but if there is a hardship that extension is available.

Some other things to keep in mind:

1. As of now, council meetings will take place but we ask that you only attend if you have vital information to present. Please feel free to contact me at the office at 224-0091 if you have questions or you have something you would like to discuss. If I am not available I will return your call as soon as I am available. We are also trying to keep the Village website updated with information so please check that out from time to time. A new Facebook page has been created, “Village of North Kingsville, Ohio”. We are also putting updates on that as well. Our meetings are televised. You can find them on Conneaut Cable Channel 6 and Spectrum Channel 1024. There is a link on the website that gives the scheduled air times. We will also be shortening our agenda for our council meeting for April 6th. We will not be having department head or committee reports. This is to cut down on exposure to each other. We will also be practicing social distancing.

2. All Committee meetings have been canceled unless there is vital business to conduct that is relative to the operations of the Village.

3. Court is cancelled until April 16th, tentatively. If you have a ticket to pay please call Dora, our Clerk of Courts at 224-0091 and she will be able to take your payment over the phone or answer any questions you may have.

4. The Village hall is still closed until further notice to the public. We will continue to serve the public via regular mail, email and by phone. If you would like to drop your taxes off rather than mail them, we have placed a drop box on the front door. Our tax administrator, Cheryl wants to remind everyone to sign their forms and enclose their phone numbers. She will be available by phone, 224-1924 should you have any questions. Our Clerk of Courts, Dora will be available to answer questions and take payments for tickets by calling 224-0091. On the recommendation the Governor, I have changed the hours of staff members as to cut down on contact with one another. Our Clerk of Courts, Tax Administer and Fiscal Officer will be alternating working days. I will be in the office Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding through all of this. Please take care of yourselves and each other. Together we will get through this.
